Hello Year 1,

While we are still on lockdown, here are some ideas for books that you can get on your grown up’s phone.

https://www.worldbookday.com/world-of-stories/            How about listening to Elmer

You can scan the QR code using your phone camera and it will take you to a youtube video. Why not listen to Grandads Island or Barry the Fish with Fingers.

If you already have a library card at home, get your grown up to go to:   e-audio books.

  • Download the borrow box app
  • Select Bristol Libraries
  • Sign in with your library ID (Long number on your library card) and your pin number.
  • Go to Incredible Children and YA Titles.
  • Choose your book!
There are hundreds of books to choose from! How about Bedtime Stories with Lenny Henry or The Animal Kingdom. If they are already On Loan, click Reserve, and you’ll get them soon! In the meantime, there are hundreds of others and you can read the blurb to find out more about them.

(If you’re not a member yet you can go to: Join our library online -join our library online here. Ask your grown up to help you type your name, date of birth, address and choose 4 numbers to be your pin number and you’ll get a membership number that you can use all of the online resources with. (When libraries are open again you can get a card.)

At this website you can read and listen to some lovely picture books online
Open Very Carefully and Hairy McClary are two of my favourites.

Enjoy your online reading journeys and I look forward to seeing you soon!
